Fluorescent Diamond
An unusual and exciting vintage ring
As Jewellers we carry out a lot of valuations for customers and we get to see a great deal of special items, sometimes we get to see something very special. A few weeks ago a customer brought in a solitaire diamond ring she had inherited for us to appraise. On first sight we could easily tell that it was a nice ring about 60pts of a bright White diamond that was virtually flawless. But when our expert looked closer something sparked his interest. You may have seen the tv programme a few weeks ago about the cursed Hope diamond. The hope diamond is a large blue diamond that when passed under an ultra violet light fluoresces red.

Our lady's diamond had a very slight milky Whiteness that was barely visible but when it was held under a UV light the result shocked everyone who saw it. It was as if the diamond became a very bright blue LED torch. The photo does not do the effect justice but it still looks amazing.
Sadly, although this type of diamond is rare, it is less valuable that a normal diamond, but I would still like to own it.
